21st January 2010 - Splash!

This is another dodgy photo taken from inside the car while it was horrendous outside but I had to get a picture of the waves crashing off the back of the Rock Pool and reaching about 3 times as high as the wall! I just wish I had have had my good camera with me to take this photo but as it is I had to make do with my camera phone so sorry about the quality!

20th January 2010 - Mixed Glass

I went to the bottle bank in the dark to get rid of all our recycling - a trip that is never fun made much worse by the fact that it's dark, the recycling area is lit with orange lights and it's bloody hard to make out the colour of the glass bottles unless they are clear. A trip made doubly worse by the fact that none of the bottles were mine what with the being pregnant and not being able to drink damnit! Anyway, I had spent some time getting all my bottles into the right bins and as I threw away the last one I noticed a new sign had gone on to all the glass bins - MIXED GLASS

Arg... I could have saved myself a hell of a lot of time and just thrown them all into the one bin. Of course since it was dark I barely noticed the sign until it was too late!

19th January 2010 - In Car

We've had such horrible weather recently that I couldn't even face getting out of my car to take this photo. It was so wet and windy outside I thought I might have been blown away and I would definitely have got soaked, even for the length of time it would have taken me to take a single photo! Anyway I took the very lazy way out and took the photo while sitting in my car hence all the little pin points of light where the rain hadn't quite been washed away properly by my windscreen wipers!

18th January 2010 - Bridging a Gap

Had the dogs out for a walk on the promenade in the evening and thought the new (well relatively new) bridge looked particularly great. I love it now that the promenade has been all done up and is well lit as it means you can go for a walk in the evening and still feel safe. Despite it being a cold, dark January evening there were loads of people about!

17th January 2010 - I'll Sit Where I like!

Our heating's been broken and the hubby has taken to lying on the sofa and using the dogs as blankets. Any extra heat is quite welcome at the minute. I think with my ever expanding waistline he wouldn't appreciate me doing the same though! Anyway dogs on sofa is an obviously bad idea as he didn't quite count on the fact that since they are so used to being up there they now think it's their space lol

16th January 2010 - Baby Shelf

My baby belly's now getting so big that I can use it as a shelf! Just about hitting the 3rd trimester now so not long to go - I can't see it come in fast enough :)

15th January 2010 - Washer

Woohoo - my quest to kit myself out with appliances before the baby arrives is progessing nicely. This is the dishwasher I managed to get off Gumtree for £50. Even better the bloke selling it was able to deliver it to the house so I didn't have to faff about trying to arrange to pick it up. It's already made life a hell of a lot easier, now for the tumble dryer...

14th January 2010 - Sunrise

Got this beautiful picture of the sun rising at just before 9am when I was on my way to work. The grey skies aren't so grey today.

This picture marks the end of my second week of picture taking so I'm glad it was a good one. Taking a picture every day is harder than I thought it would be. I do have my camera with me where ever I go now but I have a head like a sieve so remembering to take it out even once a day is difficult unless I'm inspired to by something like this sky. I am trying to see beautiful things for my photos and to make sure I don't repeat myself too often so fingers crossed for the next 50 weeks!

13th January 2010 - Windows

They say the eyes are the windows to the soul, dunno what you can see in mine though! This was taken with the shitty camera on my phone, hence the terrible quality compared with the rest of the photos taken so far but it meant I could see myself while I took the photo.

12th January 2010 - Nuts!

Mmmm... that was a lovely bowl of pistachio nuts! Unfortunately I managed to eat them all before I got round to photographing them so it's a lovely photo of a pile of empty shells.

Unfortunately the new pup has developed a taste for pistachios too so I'm going to have to keep my supplies well hidden or I'll be looking at some rather costly dog food!

11th January 2010 - Dreary Day

The snow and ice of the past few weeks has finally gone on it's merry way and we're left with some thoroughly Irish grey and dreary days. It's still bloody cold though. Behind all those clouds lie the Mountains of Mourne which are still pure white, not that you can tell that from this photo!

10th January 2010 - Heat Protection System

In some ways this photo is a bit of a cheat again. I forgot to take a photo until it was quite late in the day but I managed to get this one in just before I went to bed! I arrived home from my trip to Belfast on Sunday to find my in-laws had been round and had put up new curtains in our hall and our back room. We live in quite a draughty old house and since there are only 2 of us the place gets quite cold and doesn't hold the heat very well. I was definitely able to notice the difference in the temperature with the new curtains keeping the heat from seeping away through massive windows! But I digress, this is a photo of the new curtain in our back room and a nice reminder of how kind people can be!

9th January 2010 - Frozen

I woke up to find it had snowed again overnight which made for an interesting journey to Belfast for me! It was a hard choice for today's photo as I took so many great pictures in the snow. Anyway, I chose this picture to remind me of this day so I would remember being in Belfast and the lovely day I had being pampered in Aura with gift vouchers I received for Christmas and because I still can't get over the river Lagan being completely and utterly frozen!

8th January 2010 - Orion

Ok, I freely admit to having arsed about with this one for effect. I put my camera on a 60 second shutter speed and took a photo of the starry sky from one of the upper windows in our house. It was so clear that night and since our house looks over a golf course and out to sea there's practically no light pollution to interfere with the view of the sky. I have messed about with the contrast and levels slightly so that you can see the stars more clearly but the photo is all my own! Orion's right above the top of the tree - who can see it?

7th January 2010 - Snow on the Mountain

I thought the morning light catching the side of Donard this morning was beautiful. The mountains used to look like this all winter long but they haven't for years. Despite all the horrid weather we're having it's great to see the mountains looking like proper mountains again :)

6th January 2010 - It's still cold!

I couldn't believe it when it started to snow yet again! This is the coldest it's been for years I think. You can just about make out the orange of the poor aul postie's coat behind the bushes. I do feel sorry for him being out and about on a bike with all the snow & ice.

5th January 2010 - Another Icy Day

It's been sooo cold recently! I honestly can't remember a winter like it. Actually that's a lie - it's really only the last few weeks that have been really cold but that's what's so bad - we weren't expecting it!! This was taken in the car in the morning when I was trying to get to work but the car was so iced up I had to sit for ages waiting for it to heat up - I liked the patterns the ice made on the windscreen of the car though! :)

4th January 2010 - Masked Avenger

Only 4 days in and I nearly forgot to take a photo so it was literally a last minute scramble to find something. I got this mask in from a class wee shop Barcelona on my first ever holiday away with the hubby - it's hanging in my bedroom to remind me of good times :)

I got it from Arlequí Mascares for anyone who's interested!

3rd January 2010 - Decorations are GONE!

Woohoo - all my Christmas decorations came down on this day! This dresser had my wee tree and all the Christmas cards on it and they're now GONE!! The dogs decided to get in on the photo taking action too!

Being pregnant over Christmas was a miserable experience. Between indigestion and there not being enough room for my stomach I wasn't able to eat very much, I obviously wasn't able to drink very much and the weather was so crap I didn't get out a lot either. I am so glad to be back at work, even though I'm always exhausted, it's nice to wake up in the morning with the feeling of having something to do!

2nd January 2010 - Erotic Parsnip

Hehehe... one of our last batch of parsnips out of the garden and we pulled up this beauty!

1st January 2010 - Blue Moon

I cheated a bit by using this photo - It was actually taken on the last day of last year but I liked it so much I thought I'd use it as my 1st photo of 2010. I like the snow falling in the foreground making it look like a starry night :)

2010

Again I have been very lax in posting - I am much too lazy for a regular blog! However I am endevouring to take a photo every day in 2010 and hopefully I'll keep posting them here for you to have a nosey at!
